The Farmingdale State College Rams are very active and successful when it comes to athletics. Whether it be men's hockey, women's volleyball, women's basketball, men's track and field, men's golf, name any athletic team at Farmingdale State and you’ll see just how active they are. The teams are continuously holding practices, work outs, and traveling to and from games. While that takes up a lot of the athlete's time, that's not all they do. Even with their busy schedules revolving around their sports, the Farmingdale Rams still have time to help out their communities.
As presented on the Farmingdale State Athletics website, we see a lot of community involvement from the Farmingdale State Men's Athletics over the years. In January of 2025, the Farmingdale Men's Lacrosse team joined with the Long Island Metro Lacrosse Foundation for their third annual wheelchair lacrosse game, raising awareness and participation for wheelchair lacrosse and its athletes. The men's lacrosse team also visited the Peoples Arc, a home for individuals with disabilities. The team's first visit was in December 2024 where they spent time with the children there, donated personalized gifts, and handed out Farmingdale State jerseys. We see a lot of involvement from the men's lacrosse team, as well as the Farmingdale men's golf team. In November of 2024, the men's golf team held free golf lessons for the Disability Services Center in the golf simulator at Farmingdale State College. In September of that same year, the Farmingdale State men's golf coach, Ryan Williams, announced 13 year old Brady Nadata as a new member of the team. This was done through Team IMPACT, and will allow Brady to participate in team events, practices and matches. This allows Brady to be accepted and be able to participate in golf at this high level.
Like the Farmingdale Men's Athletics, we see a lot of community involvement from the Farmingdale Women's Athletics as well. The women's lacrosse team showed a lot of care for the community, including in February of 2025 when they held a practice with the local youth lacrosse program, the Levittown Tomahawks for a joint practice. With this practice the team was able to run through drills and teach the young athletes their skills. In 2023, the Women's Lacrosse team had also volunteered at the Jones Beach Breast Cancer Walk, and at Long Island Cares where they packed food boxes to be donated. The Women's Lacrosse team also held a clothing drive, alongside the Farmingdale State Softball team. In addition to this, the Softball team held a free clinic in February of 2024. The clinic was for Howitt Middle School in Farmingdale, where the athletes helped out athletes from Farmingdale's Little League.
There is a lot of visual community involvement from the athletes of Farmingdale State College. Whether it be clothing drives to one on one athletic lessons, the Farmingdale State Rams are ready to get involved with their community in their time away from their sports.
