Coming off one of their best first halves of a season yet, the Farmingdale State College golf team has high expectations for the coming spring of 2026. The team won the Skyline Championship by a convincing margin, ending the fall season with an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships at Mission Resort in April. This will be their biggest challenge yet as they will not just be competing amongst regional Skyline Conference teams but instead against the nation's top golf programs. Before the NCAA championship, the Farmingdale team will have multiple events to prepare for, including the Trinity College Invitational and the FSC Invitational at Bethpage Black.

For the team to have any chance at competing on a national level, star players Padruig Douglas and Luke O’Grady-Rodgers will have to perform at the same high standard that they did in the Fall half of the season. While Padruig had many impressive performances throughout the season, his most impressive came in the most important of times at the 2025 Skyline Golf Championship, where he shot even par putting up scores of 69-75 and won the tournament. Padruig would go on to also win the Player of the Year award by the Skyline Conference, crowning him as the best player in the Conference as voted on by the coaches of each team at the end of the year. Luke O’Grady-Rodgers has had an amazing fall season as well, and goes hand in hand with Padruig each week as the best players on this Farmingdale team. O’Grady-Rodgers particularly shined at the Skyline Invitational on 10/17/2025, where he shot a personal record 1 under par and earned medalist honors at the tournament. His performance led the Rams to a win in the invitational, scoring 19 strokes ahead of the runner-up St. Joeseph's-Long Island. Both Douglas and O’Grady Rodgers will need to maintain and even elevate this level of performance if they hope to hoist a National Championship trophy come April.

Before that, the Rams will have business to take care of at multiple invitationals to start the spring season. The most competitive of these being the Trinity invitational from April 4th to 5th at Keney Park GC in Connecticut. The Rams will be tested as they will face multiple NESCAC conference teams which is considered the most competitive conference in Division 3 Golf, including #74 ranked Trinity #62 ranked Hamilton, and #66 ranked Tufts. While those rankings may seem intimidating, the Rams come in not far behind at #84 and have more invitational wins than any of the other teams in the field. The Rams do still average the highest average score, meaning the competition they have faced this far does not compare to that of the NESCAC conference. If the Rams can pull off a win at the Trinity Invitational, it would give them the momentum they need going forward to the NCAA Tournament

Coming up in just a few weeks, the Rams will begin their long-awaited spring season with their Spring Break Trip, followed by the FSC Glen Oaks Invitational, where the Rams will face off against NYU, RPI and Delhi. Placing third in the invitational last year, the Rams hope to outperform their previous scores and bring a trophy back to the FSC.
