Farmingdale, NY . September 30, 2025 -The Farmingdale State Men’s Golf team has made a promising start to its 2025 fall season, combining steady performances and individual highlights as it goes after a sixth consecutive Skyline Conference crown.

In the season opener, Sept. 6 at the George Cangero Invitational at Eisenhower Park White Course, the Rams placed third among 11 teams with a team total of 295. The second round scheduled for Sept. 7 was canceled due to weather conditions.

The Rams then competed Sept. 13–14 at the Duke Nelson Invitational, finishing 12th out of 20 teams with a two‑day total points of 613.

More recently, the Rams competed Sept. 21–22 at The Gauntlet in Lewisburg, Pa. In round one, Farmingdale shot 291 to place third. In round two, the Rams improved with a 286 to give them a two‑day total of 577. Good enough for a runner‑up team to finish among 15 teams.

A standout from that event was freshman Philip Connolly, who turned in a two-under 68 in the second round. His performance earned him both Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors in the Skyline Conference.

Before the season began, the Rams were selected as the preseason favorite in the 2025 Skyline Coaches Poll. This is because they won the conference championship each of the past five seasons. Their streak includes their 16th program title in 2024, when Farmingdale shot a commanding two‑day total of 582 to win the Skyline Championship by 48 strokes.

The 2025 Skyline Conference Golf Championship is for Oct. 19–20 at Eisenhower Park’s White Course, so our golfers will have home field advantage if they end up making it to the championship.

The Rams' fall schedule also includes non-conference matches. After The Gauntlet, the Rams plan to compete on Oct. 5–6 at the RPI Collegiate Invitational in Loudonville, N.Y. Then on Oct. 16, the team will head to Jericho, N.Y., for the Adelphi Invitational. On Oct. 17, Farmingdale will again tee off at Eisenhower Park for its own Skyline Invitational ahead of the conference championship, another reason for them to have an advantage to win it all this year.

Through its first events, the Rams' depth has shown. Multiple golfers have contributed to the team totals, and Connolly’s standout round illustrates the strength of the underclass contingent. As October approaches, consistent scoring and experience under pressure will be key. With only the top teams advancing to postseason play, the margin for error narrows. But if Farmingdale can maintain steady team scores, it could continue its dominance in Skyline men’s golf.

The Rams' next test comes out on Oct. 5 at Loudonville. If their early season is any indication, they will arrive prepared for the push toward a sixth straight conference crown.
