FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — As winter starts to fade away, players are dusting off their clubs. Farmingdale State men’s golf team is getting ready for their 2026-27 season, anticipating building on their successful previous years. This crucial offseason period allows players to hone their skills and test new equipment. The Farmingdale State College men’s golf team won the Skyline Conference Championship last year, and players must strategize for this upcoming season.

Last season, Farmingdale State ended up taking first place in the Skyline Conference Championship. They got first in both the first and second rounds. The team works consistently and is strategic when it comes to the plays throughout the season. Key players like Rishi Talwar and Luke O’Grady scored high individual scores, which overall contributed to the team’s success. Farmingdale praised the players’ hard work and teamwork they had put into securing the championship title.

Even in the offseason, players practice daily in the golf simulator. Over the years, there have been some renovations and expansions done to the college. This has allowed the simulator now to be equipped with over 35 championship courses. Players now have a way to practice anytime of the year while also being provided with feedback. The simulator can give the player feedback on the club speed, ball speed, launch angle, spin rate, and swing path. It has an incredibly realistic feel. Balls that bounce off trees, splash in the water, spin on the green and even balls that hit the flagstick. The golf simulator acts as a convenient way for flexible, available training sessions that are open to fit the busy schedule of these student athletes.

Various key players from last year’s championship team are returning, leading the team with valuable experience. There are 11 players overall on the team, with only two of them being seniors, and this season they want to leave a lasting impression. The team has their spring break trip scheduled for March 14 at Saddlebrook Resort near Tampa. After that is their first Invitational on March 23 in Old Westbury, N.Y. With a few weeks to spare, players are gearing up.

Farmingdale State’s men’s golf team is taking on the new season with optimism due to their last season’s victory. High expectations are set for the upcoming season. The team reaches on hitting the ball where they intend to. Players are focused on managing the pressure they put on themselves and stay focused when taking their shot. Players are committed to regaining the championship title and making their mark. The team is blended with freshman, sophomore, juniors, and seniors, who all work together to deliver another successful season.
