FARMINGDALE, NY- As Fall 2025 semester is quickly approaching, registration has now been open for two weeks for all students. The registrar is working hard to get everyone in the classes they want and need. As the registrar is responsible for completing many tasks for students throughout the year, this is one of the busiest points in the semester for them.
Located in Laffin Hall, which is near the Greenly Library, you can find the registrar on floor 2, room 225. Laffin hall holds many other offices like financial aid, student records, dean of students, and many more. You can find the registrar right next to student records, which is in room 226. The registrar has many resources available for students. Not only do they help you make your schedules happen, but they have resources to help you with appeals, applications for graduation, course listings, wait list information, FERPA forms, final exams results, chosen identity policy information, registrar forms, transcript requests, and veteran student enrollment verification information.
PCM student Joesph Rodriguez stated in an interview, “I believe most students understand what the registrar basic services functions are which is to help advise students on registering for classes, but there are other resources within that department lots of students do not take advantage of.”
For new students, or students that may not be unaware; lots of students would suggest the quicker you discover what classes you need form your degree works and making your schedule with the registrar, the better chance you have getting into the classes you want.
Frank Nicolich, a 3rd year PCM major student said in an interview, “If you are making your schedule right and you are making it early, you usually don’t have a hard time getting into classes. But for me, the one time I did do my schedule a bit late, I did have a little bit of trouble getting into certain classes.” When asked how easy or difficult it has been for him to get into classes the past semesters.
Although it is always possible a student can run into a bump in the road when creating a schedule, the registrar will do whatever they can to make sure you're happy with your classes. Frank also shared an experience he had, “I did have a problem once. I was put on a waitlist for a class I really needed in my major. They ended up moving someone out of the class who was not part of the major and did not need the class. They sent me an email saying I was on the waitlist at first, then once they fixed the issue, they sent me an email that I was automatically registered for it.” This shows how clear, concise, and fast the communication they try to have with the students.
The registrar works hard all year round, but they are putting in the extra work for the upcoming semester. Make sure you check your degree works and get your schedules going!
