FARMINGDALE, N.Y.  - If you are a student at Farmingdale State College, you might have heard about the Health and Wellness Center. Whether through a picture on the FSC Website, or a friend mentioning it. Some students overlook the free amenities the building offers and how students like yourself can take advantage of them during the semester.

I had the opportunity to document a student named Kheferen Ramon, and his experience getting a massage at the Health and Wellness Center. “The process is very simple” says Khefren, to schedule an appointment you go to their website and schedule a date and time that works for you.

When you walk into the Health and Wellness center on the day of your appointment, you will be greeted by the receptionist that will let you know when you are ready for your massage. When your appointment is ready, the Masseuse will escort you to the massage room, and will ask you to lay on to the massage chair, face down. The massage lasts around 20 minutes, and will have your body feeling loose and ready to conquer the tasks for the day.

Once Khefren was done with his massage, I asked  him a few questions on his overall experience of his appointment. Khefren enjoyed the overall ambiance of the massage as it was the perfect environment to relax, unwind and take in the experience. “She made sure that there were no distractions, and you could use it as a place to destress from everything,” says Khefren. Khefren also talked about how even though the massage only lasted for a short time, it was much needed for his mental and physical health during his educational endeavors.  “I’ve had a stressful week education wise so it’s kind of nice to have this, even though it was only for 20 minutes” says Khefren.

If you are a student at Farmingdale State College that is having a stressful semester, do not hesitate to book an appointment at the health and wellness center for a massage. Make sure to schedule it in advance as they do fill up fast. Besides massages, the Health and Wellness Center also provides free Acupuncture, and check ups as well so that students can stay on top of their health if they are feeling sick. So what are you waiting for, book your appointment today!
