LINDENHURST NY; On March 19th, 2024 the owners of a long Island Brewery, GSB, opened an American style restaurant in Lindenhurst. Now on April 1st, 2026 they have completely re-branded the eatery, into a burrito bar.
On Wednesday the brewery completed the re model, naming, and opened Breakers to the public. The opening showed off a lot including new food, drinks, cocktails, decorations, and even workers.
The Rambler was able to get a sit-down interview with a patron who attended opening day. Sumner Sawyer expressed how everything was okay at the restaurant, “but nothing to write home about”.
In our interview he expressed concerns for the longevity of the restaurant, as the first attempt in this space didn’t go well. Going into further detail saying, “the food was good… the service was meh…”.
The restaurant is not limited on competition as well, with several other restaurants in the area looking to compete. These include places like Hermanas which serves similar ethnic food.
Breakers though has a uniqueness to it that no one else in town is competing with, that being the menu. Filled with burritos, classic Hispanic dishes transformed into others, such as the birria egg rolls, which are an amalgamation of egg rolls, and birria tacos.
With a huge space the restaurant doesn’t offer just sit-down dinners. The second floor can be used for private parties and even has an area that overlooks Wellwood avenue. It is a massive space, able to accommodate those bigger parties.
Located at 147 s Wellwood avenue, Breakers has a lot riding on it. After GSB Breweries restaurant did not pan out, there is much work to be done in this new place. With the real question being, do you think Breakers has what it takes to compete in Lindenhurst?
