SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y. - As the weeks pass, construction is underway for Local Burger’s brand-new location on Lakeland Avenue, in Bohemia. The expansion is the fourth location for the company, with others in Bay Shore, Sayville, and Southampton. The arrival of the new store is a part of a growing demand for new dining options in this more industrial section of the island.

Local Burger aims to bring a calm, community oriented environment to the new store, giving people a place to spend time and enjoy the menu options. The new store brings the Local Burger menu closer to home for those who are in areas closer to the middle of the island.

The restaurant is expected to serve as both a dining option and social space, appealing to students as well as families in the area. The location is also in reach for schools such as St. Josephs, and Suffolk County Community College’s Selden Campus, which makes it a good spot for students looking to grab food between or after classes, and gives them another place in the area without having to travel too far.

The addition of Local Burger shows a broader trend towards businesses continuing to expand into Bohemia. In recent years, Bohemia has had a steady increase in restaurants and other businesses opening in spaces that were previously more industrial.

The trend of new stores opening can also be seen with the recent opening of a Chick-fil-A location in Bohemia’s Sayville Plaza, which has continued to bring attention to the area. The restaurant saw a strong turnout for its opening for their “Moove-In” day, which allowed anyone wearing cow related clothing to receive a free entree.

The area also welcomed an Uncle Giuseppe’s in late November, adding a new grocery option for those in the area. The store offers prepared foods, produce, as well as other specialty items that traditional grocery stores may not offer.

As more businesses continue to open, Bohemia is transitioning into a more active commercial area with the combination of restaurants and other stores opening, and it is slowly becoming a more appealing area to both business owners as well as residents.

Though construction is still occurring, the arrival of Local Burger is expected to add to the growth of the town, and as more businesses continue to open, the area will continue to change and grow giving residents of the area more options and making Bohemia a more active part of Suffolk County.
