Farmingdale, N.Y --- This week, I had the pleasure of watching the Greek Week 2025 volleyball games, which took place on Tuesday, April 15, in the Nold main gym. The Fraternities and Sororities on campus were passionate but also very competitive. The first game was between Fraternities Alpha Sigma Phi vs. Kappa Sigma, which Alpha Sigma Phi won a hard-fought victory of 2-1. The second game was between sororities Delta Phi Epsilon vs. Sigma Delta Tau, giving Sigma Delta Tau the victory over Delta Phi Epsilon 2-0. The third, and final game was between fraternities Tau Kappa Epsilon vs. Alpha Phi Delta, in which Tau Kappa Epsilon snuck in a nail-biting win, beating Alpha Phi Delta two games to one. All the students involved brought the passion and confidence they needed for their Greek organization to win.

Delta Phi Epsilon member, Michaela Cocchi, says Greek Week gives her and her fellow sisters the chance to “grow their sisterhood”. She says, “It gives me a chance to connect with some of the newer members, especially the ones you may not know as much about, especially since they joined last semester”. Cocchi says her favorite event from Greek Week so far was Field Day, which took place on April 13th. She says that it was a “rough day” and very cold weather, but despite the chilly temperatures, Delta Phi Epsilon came in 1st for the Egg Toss and Flag Football.

Fellow sister and President of Delta Phi Epsilon, Alyssa Rissland, says she loves Greek Week because she “truly loves bonding with the other Greek Organizations on Campus”. Rissland says her favorite part so far has been donating large amounts of canned goods to the Long Island Cares Food Bank. Delta Phi Epsilon has contributed over 10,000 perishable food items! When asked about her favorite event during the week, Rissland said her favorite event was “Getting the W at Football.”

To showcase that Greek Week is about competition, it’s also about supporting and uplifting the community around us. All of the Greek Life Organizations on campus raised over 88,000 items to donate, including canned food, granola bars, water cases, fruit snacks, and other necessities to the Long Island Cares Food Bank; a record breaker! These community builders are proof that collaboration and hard work do pay off. At the end of this year’s Greek week, the winning sorority is Phi Sigma Sigma, while the winning fraternity is Tau Kappa Epsilon.
