The best Fall 2025 activities in Suffolk County

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY. Now that summer has come to an end on long Island, Suffolk County residents are looking forward to any kind of fall activities that the county has to offer. 

There are many festivals scheduled throughout the month of October that are dedicated to embracing the fall season as well as a wide variety of farms and orchards that offer activities like apple picking, pumpkin picking, and animal attractions for families to enjoy.


Fall Festivals:

Town of Babylon residents can look forward to the Parks Department’s annual Fall Festival located at Tanner Park in Copiague for free admission.  Running from 4pm -7pm on Saturday October 18th, the festival will feature a live music performance on the stage at Tanner Park for residents to enjoy while exploring many activities offered at the festival. 

Those activities include pumpkin picking, hayrides, food trucks, inflatables, and face painting that will be scattered throughout the park.  Following those activities, the festival concludes with a screening of Halloweentown (1998) beginning after sunset. 


The Town of Babylon Fall Festival is one of many festivals that will be offered throughout the month of October. Other notable town festivals include Smithtown Craft Fall Fair from Saturday October 4th-5th from 10am – 5pm each day at Smithtown Village Historical Society Grounds and Southampton Fest from 10am – 4pm on October 4th at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church Lot Smithtown.


Fall Food Festivals:

For Suffolk residents who are interested in the potential food festivals to attend in the month of October, a notable festival located at Tanger Outlets in Deer Park NY is the Famous Food Festival.


Running from October 10th – 13th starting at 1pm on Friday and 11am on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday ending each day at 8pm. 


The festival will include Fall themed beer and wine tasting for those over the age of 21, As well as live music, line and lasso dancing, games for both kids and adults including inflatables. 


It will feature over a hundred food vendors of all different kinds and local arts and crafts to enjoy.  There will be axe throwing, kids rides, rock climbing, face painting, and other surprises and giveaways for those attending. 


The festival serves as a great way to experience a diverse set of food, drinks, and unique activities for Suffolk County residents to expose themselves too in the early Fall season. 


Farms:

For those looking to experience many farm activities throughout Fall a great place to start is White Post Farms located at 250 Old Country Rd, Melville, NY 11747. 


The farm features pumpkin patches, hayrides, and seasonal Fall food items during its Fall Festival which is every weekend throughout the season.  


Another reason to visit the farm is the animal attractions that are a must see for anyone.  It features Long Island’s only giraffes, allowing residents to feed them and see them face to face.  The animal farm also features a diverse set of animals like cows, pigs, goats, and horses. 


Residents will have an opportunity to go on pony rides.  Take pictures with the animals, and explore a primate exhibit which allows an up close and personal experience with unique animals that is interactive for residents.   


Other attractions include a train ride that will take children around parts of the farm and allow them to experience the scale of what is offered at White Post Farms, as well as a new dinosaur attraction full of interactive statues and playgrounds for children to enjoy included free with admission.

Each of these events allows for Suffolk County residents to enjoy a diverse set of activities in different settings that better fits their own preference and highlights what the county has to offer for them.
